At Work and typing at work
I'm estatic that I was able to hit my target this month, considering that I haven't been around the office for a few days due to ongoing interviews (which are beginning to become a little sense-less). Some of my fellow collegues who have undergone surgery (due to football injury - hint to football enthusiasts) are back at the branch. Kevin had two holes drilled in his knee, while Kian Lee beat him by three more. Both of them are walking like old men, so I should get them walking sticks as a get well present.

Dear Reader,
How do I get out of my space and comfort zone and travel? Do I encash the amount of money I have from my savings account, grab my passport and buy a ticket to who-knows-where? Or do I ask for permission out of social responsibility, then wait for a response? This very much depends on whether I'm legally allowed to buy a ticket due to the age requirements in the first place. Everything nowadays requires you to be above 21. Above 21 for a credit card, above 21 for rated movies, above 21 to buy a HDB flat, above 21... But I'm telling you, when I reach that age, I wouldn't think of it as much because I'm there, just like when I was 16, I didn't think it was sweet, just like when I was 18, I didn't think it was more liberating than when I was 17.
In thought
Steph
PS: All the best to Els and Zuck who are going in sometime this week.

I was just reading through somethings when I happen to stumble upon a very meaningful essay from a senior from my former JC, whom I was never acquainted with. This is what he wrote:
'That is why school not only has to teach students, they have to teach students how to learn as well. Thanks to groundbreaking mnemonic, mind mapping and speed-reading techniques...(for) the dylexic and intellectually disadvantaged (who) can cope like any other person or be even better. Why not teach our next generation the skills that will let them cope and indeed thrive on?'
The cycle is vicious. The system today is the absorption of strings, formulas, facts and figures. Theory does not mean some things, theory becomes everything. A fair point to put forth that instead of finding the faults of a system which only works for a certain lucky minority, we sort to reaffirm this system by adding on 'techniques' which would incorporate the academically challenged into a system which, in the first place does not solve the root of the problem. In short, the assumption today is not how to break the system, but how to improve it and work along aside with it.

On a general note
I haven't been updating my blog for the last two weeks because my stupid explorer isn't working. I haven't gotten down to fixing it because I realised that my computer is beyond repair, so my only alternative is to get a new one, somehow.
Well, thats not the only excuse I've got. I haven't much to talk about because everything is moving along quite fast. As for reflections, I have none. In short, I have been in a very shallow mood for the past two weeks. So bear with me.

Therapy in Toilets
I just found the most therapeutic toilet in the heart of Orchard Road. Try going down to the 2nd level basement of Wheelock Place, just next to the food section of Marks & Spencers. The feeling is exhilarating! A break away from hustle and bustle of city life. Instrumental music softly floating in the background, the whole place smells of lavender, and everything is so sparsely clean. Even the cubicles are always filled with toilet paper and automatic flushers, and theres this lady who comes in to clean it every 3hrs so there is absolutely no traces of waste smell.
You know, I could spend my whole lunch hour just sitting on the toilet seat, staring at the ceiling and listening to the orchestral music suspended in the background.

With Utmost Gratitude
Special Thanks to everyone who have been very supportive and tolerant of me and for the past two years while I was studying for my A levels. It is truly God's Grace and I couldn't ask for anything better or worse. Very touched that Scotts (my workplace) called me after receiving my results to ask how I did. And Head of HR SCB called me a 'fine lady' whom she hoped that her daughter could grow up following. I've never heard such a compliment before, but I attribute it to my parents upbringing and God's care.
Next week, I shall send flowers and chocolates over to my teachers in TJ. Just a small token of appreciation. I couldn't emphasis how much support my Temasek teachers have given me. Of course, with one exception. I am contemplating giving a certain teacher (if she even deserves such a title) a lump, no wait a sack of coal with the letter 'A' engraved in red paint on every lump of coal. As I recall late last year, despite my protests that I could do it, she told me 'not to try too hard' because I've reached my peak and I could go no further than a grade B. To her, I was neither 'brilliant nor stupid, just on an even keel'. Talk about a terrible and hideous lack of judgement on her part.
