I refer to Tat's 50 things about TJ:

50. lunches at siglap with vai, sarita and steph. not forgetting the picnic we had at some god-forsaken staircase in the new block.

Agree in absolute. Every snippet of memory that framed a beautiful picture of our two years in Temasek. I still remembered the 10 scoops of ice cream we ordered before Divyya went to US. And not to forget, mercilessly teasing Tat about his two jokes, the only two that he knows. Theres just so much more. Where do I begin?

Mardi Gra tomorrow! Meet at 715pm Bus Stop.

"I shar-ted - what? - I mean...I farted and some shit came out..." - Along Came Polly

A good movie to make my Monday worth while. Its good to see you guys again. Later went to Zuck's house since he had to take care of his brother and couldn't get out. The muthubak was good though. Zuck, you should try selling that at your uncle's store, it'll go well with the otak. Anyway, had a fair share of nougats and Mauri-Land pictures. Sit around until Mom called to nag me all the way home.

Its back to work today. One thing I like about banking is the feeling I get out of being part of an international money network. It goes like this:

At 4am Singapore time, the Auckland market is the first to open. Then followed by the London market, then Singapore at 9 am and finally New York. Everyday at 9 am, thats when I join the crowed in a buzz of phone calls, money transactions and cross-sells. Hi - Good morning- Welcome to Standard Chartered Bank. Every morning, I hop
across to Star Bucks for a morning decaf. The doors open at 930am, and the counters are in full swing. Thats how my day begins.

nudnik (NOOD-nik) noun

A boring pest.

[From Yiddish nudyen (to bore), from Polish nudzic + -nik (suffix
denoting a person associated with a particular quality, group, etc.]

Mauri Land

Touchdown at 9pm. Dad picked us up from Changi. The last thing I remembered on the flight was the bird's eye view of Singapore. It was majestic.

Last week this time, I flew off to Auckland. Time Runs doesn't it? I thought I could cover much in a week, just like I did in Rome with my hard-nosed highly efficient father. Well, my trip was good. I learnt much, thought much, and have much to reflect upon. Accomodation at my Aunt's was wonderful and I couldn't be more grateful for their time and effort to take us around Auckland and a 2 day roadtrip to Rotorua. My Uncle's enthusiasm for sight-seeing and Maori culture was educational. I couldn't ask for a better tour guide, and theres no doubt about that. Of course, the irony being that he had alot to complain about the Maoris, just as my own father had alot to complain about the Indians.

My week's stay was spent on dormant volcanos, maori villages, hot springs, lake fishing, duck feeding, cart riding, bumming around town and the closest thing to my heart - restaurant hopping. My cousin - God bless him - is a gifted driver, so we had alot of fun going places. Rudian son of Bachik; my immediate cousin from my mother's, my tour guide, drinking buddy, bitch-companion, retarded friend, chauffeur (eh?) and most definitely much like an elder brother. Thank you so much for your time, and Jean as well. Shes so sweet! I'd love to take you guys shopping when you're down in Singapore. Heres wishing both of you all the best in your future endeavours.

Well, I shall go to Church tomorrow. Thanks Joyce for your email, yes I'm back and I miss you girls too. Then Monday, its business as usual and everything will go back to it's routine. Routine, of which it's physical act requires minimal brain activity - how boring.

P.S: Tat and Khai, don't mind watching Polly on Monday, could catch a 7+ show wherever. I'm being hopeful it'll be at Lido. Can you guys do the calling? Just the usual ppl (Els, Zuck, Sam, blah)

This Week's Review

Tuesday and Thursday was utter crap since I had to go for training again. Its a hell lot more nerve wrecking than it is at the branch. But my Wenesday and Friday was bitter-sweet. As usual, made a few mistakes but manage to rectify everything in the end. Kian Lee was nice enough to help me service some Card issue for some gay guy since I'm going off for training next monday. I hope the cross sell goes well judging for the portforlio of this gay guy.

I suppose when I said I liked my work environment, it would be more apt to say that I liked my work environment because I like the people there. Not all of them, since there ought to be some asses in every corner of the world. But a certain few have earned my respect. Respect them, so much so that sometimes I have this urge to call out 'Uncle Kian Lee , or 'Aunty Pat'. For their sincerity, and the very fact that they are actually willing to talk to a sad 18 year old sod who hasn't seen much of the working world. Believe me, given my history of not liking to talk to kids who are not mature enough to be talked too, I'd say, these people are something. Granted also the fact that despite the precarious position that I'm in, there will be a difference between sincerity and boot-licking.

Been out late the whole of this week. A bad thing since I'm spending almost $100 a week and my pay check isn't due till late Feb. I should weigh the odds of Unit Trust. *snicker Been following the stock market quite closely.

Realised also that I've been cussin' more than I ought to. I think its quite obvious and its probably due to the frustration of meeting retarded obstacles and stupid mistakes. I should try to stop it before it becomes more of a habit. I sense its already eating into most of my conversations. I was about to bitch about a few things, not relating to any life form, but for my own sake and yours I shall stop just about here.

Five VCDs and a sore eye

Decided to stay home today since it was raining. Borrowed some VCDs on saturday and I've finished all of them. So heres the ratings:

Down with Love - Rene Zellweger and Ewan Mcgregor, point of becoming very musical, much like a fusion of Chicago and Moulin Rouge. *** stars

The In laws - Michael Douglas, All American slapstick. ** stars

Emma - Gwen Paltrow, Very Jane Eyre. Most Victorian lasses like Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte seem to employ the same style and mannerism in their heroines. *** stars

How to lose a guy in ten days - Similar to Down with Love, how both parties try to hoodwink each other but end up falling in love. Lack of originality, regardless of which came first. *** stars for sappiness.

Hearts in Atlantis - Anthony Hopkins, wonderfully story about life. Wonderfully directed, scripted, produced and acted. Of course! Its Hopkins! ***** stars and exceeding.

Tat of the Shire,

I know relief teachers have an awful lot amount of time. So will you please just stick to your side of the fence and leave my territory alone. I know you're an avid reader of my blog, but I'm not running a magazine or a newspaper for the whole world. My readers lie within the circle of close friends and a few extended friends and my imaginary friend Stephanie.

With annoyance,
Steph.

Complain

This week went rather well except for a few hiccups here and there. Well not to me, but to my fellow collegues - I have every intention of calling them my seniors - Three major things happened. My fellow CSC moved over to Jurong branch this week, leaving me with more things to learn and more things to do around the house. Then there was another collegue who forgot to buy his toto number last tuesday(a routine which he had been doing so for the last 6 months) and the exact number came out on first prize. Just a lesson, never to gamble on lucky draws.

The last thing was rather exciting. I got to witness my first full fledge complain. I won't bore you with the details per se, you have to ask me for them. But just for starters, the manager was brought down to clear up the rowdiness. It had to do with two brother-in-laws who wanted face in front of each other.

Also to state. My branch manager came back just two weeks after her delivery. Mind you, she was still energetically walking around and working late the day before she gave birth. SHE IS MAD. I sat in the PFC's meeting the other day and she asked me how many referrals I did. I thought I must have kept her quite content when I told her the number of refferals I did for the week since I came back after training.

SHE: good, why don't you do 10 a day?

ME: (thought) 10?

ME: I'll try my best (smiles)

ME:(thought) SHE IS MAD! MAD!

SHE: I'm sure you can do it. Everybody, lets WATCH stephanie, and make sure she refers 10 to you A DAY!

ME: (thought/in panic) you have had too much anesthesia administered in you during your delivery.

-------------------------------------------------

This aside, my father just turned 50. Which explains the POEM I got from a senior citizens page. He wanted to read something about growing old at his birthday party. He was so enthusiastic about the poem I selected for him (not the one on the blog, I'll give him that 30 years from now) that he kept on reading it during breakfast. Which further explains why I was late for work on friday.
